How's The New Norm Working For Ya?

The entire planet has hit the reset button the last year or so and from the looks of it

we will all be living life a little differently for the foreseeable future. Collectively, most are all doing business differently. What may have seemed like a pause and a temporary "new norm" has certainly become mainstream. How have you adjusted? Stayed relevant?

What may have seemed like a pause and a temporary "new norm" has certainly become mainstream.

If there is anything that your customers and clients need from you right now is consistency and creativity. While we all try to acclimate and get our bearings we need to remember that it isn't just us that is affected but everyone is having to regroup and adjust.

Supply chains have been disrupted, business have lost personnel and prices for goods have skyrocketed. Now is the time to be transparent with your customers and clients. If you are short staffed, it's okay to announce it on social media. If you are out of a product, it's okay to let your followers know.

Businesses have been able to re=open that doesn't mean it's "business as usual".

We were so awestruck last year to see how quickly restaurants responded to the shift in meeting the moment. Brick and mortar closed down for in house dining? Quick thinking, creativity and out of the box kept many of them relevant and a vital source of community. They adapted - they adjusted. Curb side pick up, free delivery and some of our favorites have been kits that restaurants created. Patrons were able to pick up "Make Your Own Pizza: kits, "Taco Bar" kits, "Cookie" kits and the list goes on. It kept the business relevant and "top of mind" for customers.

However, since most businesses have been able to re-open that doesn't mean it's "business as usual". New challenges have cropped up and it's going to take patience, a little latitude and, yet again, creativity.

How is YOUR business adjusting? Short staffed? Have you adjusted your days open and operating hours? Have you limited your menu options? If you have multiple locations in a geographic region have you consolidated those resources into one location?

Stay in front of your clients and customers RIGHT NOW! It is so important right now to have "conversations" with your customers and clients DIGITALLY! Use your website, social media platforms and newsletters to keep everyone informed.

Website: Be sure to highlight any pertinent information on your HOME PAGE. Don't force website visitors to search for the information they need.

  • If your hours have changed, say so, ON YOUR HOME PAGE.

  • Short staffed? Use a lightbox on your home page advertising positions available.

Social Media: Make sure your profile pages are up to date on all of your social media pages. Double check for:

  • Operating hours

  • Days Open

  • Limited Services

  • New services

Email / Newsletters: Yep, send them out! You should have always been collecting email addresses from clients and customers (with permission) throughout your years of business and now is the time to put them to use.

  • We are not advocating spammy emails! Let's be clear here. We are talking about emails / newsletters that will keep your clients and customers informed of changes

  • An email / newsletter is a great way to offer incentives as well. Promo-ing a new item? Put it in the newsletter. New special? NEWSLETTER

Use your website, social media platforms and newsletters to keep everyone informed.

And, please remember, DIVERSIFY! Don't rely on just one social media platform or one path of digital marketing to get your message out there. Just like the world has changed, so too has digital marketing landscape.

Stay out in front. Be bold. Be loud. Be informative.

If you need a little help trying to figure out the best way to reach out to your clients and customers digitally please get in touch with us. We'd be happy to help you navigate and find your footing in this new world.
