UNFILTERED: Stop Posting Like Visibility Is the Goal

UNFILTERED
There's an entire marketing culture built around getting more eyes on everything.
More reach.
More impressions.
More followers.
More people seeing your shit.
And businesses eat it up because those numbers are easy to celebrate. They look impressive in reports, make for great screenshots, and give everyone something to congratulate themselves about.
But somewhere along the way, visibility became the accomplishment instead of the opportunity.
A post reaches 10,000 people. Fantastic.
What happened next?
Did anyone remember the business?
Visit the website?
Ask a question?
Come back later because something actually stuck?
Or did 10,000 people scroll past something that briefly occupied a few pixels on their screen?
There's nothing wrong with wanting visibility. Getting noticed matters. But treating attention as the finish line is a pretty convenient way to avoid asking harder questions about what your marketing is accomplishing.
And let's be fair. Not every post needs to generate a sale, and not every meaningful interaction shows up immediately in analytics.
But an impressive number on a dashboard shouldn't be enough to declare victory.
Congratulations on your fucking visibility. You're now being ignored by a much larger audience.
